We fell in love with Kii, and we want you to, too
This isn’t just another travel agency or another job. This is a calling, a passion. We started Follow The Frogs because we fell hard for the landscapes, the people, and the quiet magic of Japan’s Kii Peninsula. We want to share it with you.
Our ethos
These are the values at the heart of everything we do. They shape how we explore, what we look for, and what truly belongs on a Follow The Frogs journey.

Travel with respect
The places we travel through existed long before we arrived. From ancient mountains and century-old shrines to secluded villages and dramatic coastlines. We believe in exploring with care, and protecting the environments and heritage that we us.

Support the local community
We skip the commissioned shops and go to the real, everyday places where your presence counts. You’ll have chances to stay in family-run guesthouses, taste what’s grown and cooked here, and even step into small traditional rituals.

Find joy in the journey
It’s not always the big sights you remember. Sometimes, it’s a smile from an 80-year old obasan. The views as you drive. The grit of a hike. The smell of your dinner grilling by the river. We craft journeys that leave room for these moments.

Recommend like a friend
We don’t believe in sending you somewhere just because it’s popular. We share the hidden corners, local haunts, and honest advice we would give our closest friends, so you can experience a place on your own terms.

Tobi

Kai
Hello, we’re the faces behind Follow The Frogs. Born and raised in Singapore, we do life, travel, and the outdoors together.
Our (love) story for adventures
It all began with a shared interest.
2011
Tobi and Kai met and connected over similar hobbies.
2012
Our first trips were to Thailand and Malaysia, where we explored the land and oceans together.

2013
We had our first long trip — 30 days in Taiwan, experiencing wild nature and doing our first farm volunteer stint.
2015
We backpacked through Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand by overland travel, across a span of 22 days.

2019
Some time after settling adult things (like getting hitched and getting an apartment), we left our jobs to travel for 6 months. We travelled through China, Mongolia, and Russia (via the Trans-Siberian Railway), continued on to Eastern & Central Europe, and ended our trip in Turkey.

2023
It was the start of another long trip. Our first stop was Japan for 3 months. We spent a large amount of time in the countryside, immersing ourselves in day-to-day life.

2024 (cont'd)
Our trip continued in Latin America, starting with Mexico and Guatemala, then heading south from Colombia. We swam, hiked, cycled, kayaked, drove, camped, and hiked some more.

We wrapped up our 9 months in Latin America with Patagonia, flew to Poland for a month, then headed home. It was a big bucket list check-off.
2025
We revisited a particular place in Kii Peninsula, Japan, and spent close to 2 months there. Something kept calling us back.

It was the peaceful cedar forests, slow village rhythms, and kind-hearted locals of the Kii Peninsula that made us stay. That’s how we decided to start Follow The Frogs.
Psst. Wondering “Why frogs?” We’ll save that story for the campfire.
Begin your journey with us
There’s more than one way to follow the frogs. Hit the road, take to the trails, slow down on public transport, or join a journey hosted by us.
Want to see it with us?
The Kii Peninsula is where Follow The Frogs began, and we’ve spent countless hours exploring its roads, trails and quieter corners. A few times a year, we host a small number of self-drive tours for a deeper, more personal experience.
